Session Type: Roundtable Session
The current socio-political context in the United States has been fraught with violent acts against children and people who are transgender and/or of color. In this time of targeted violence, scholars in childhood studies are working towards possibilities for social justice and revolution. The topics of the papers in this session speak to such endeavors, focusing on interrogating school discipline, opening spaces for dialogue about race and gender, and examining picture books about Latina/o transgender peoples. Presenters offer important insights about identity politics in early childhood education and care that are imperative for social change.
