Session Summary

36.024 - Cultural Historical Research SIG Business Meeting. Building Bridges Across Methodologies: A Creative Conversation Between Colleagues

Fri, April 28, 6:15 to 7:45pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 207 A

Session Type: Business Meeting

Abstract

Socio-cultural theory is influential in almost every arena of educational research—from early childhood to adult learning and from the learning sciences to arts and education. Yet because of traditional academic silos, scholars from these different disciplines do not often discuss their commonalities and differences, and there is rarely a chance to discuss how the discoveries could help advance the socio-cultural approach. At this year’s business meeting we will bring together scholars who blend a socio-cultural perspective with a range of other approaches and content. Our goal is to create a conversation that can generate new opportunities for intersection, collaboration, discovery, and creativity.
