Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
David Tyack enjoyed a national reputation as a leader in the study of the history of American education. As a scholar and educator he examined a range of topics from the foundations of public schooling, progressive education, race, gender, and religion in education, and many, many others.
This session commemorates the impact of that work in the field of history of education as well as in other intellectual traditions. The participants are former colleagues, students, and friends of Dr. Tyackâs who were influenced by his kindness, his intellectual curiosity, and his published work.
