Abstract

Composed of scholars across three continents, this panel will discuss the research agenda of the African Diaspora Consortium, an international partnership dedicated to utilizing research to improve educational outcomes for the populations of the African Diaspora. In particular, panel participants intend to show how educational research can leverage change in policy, pedagogy, and praxis. Scholars will also speak to the importance of sustained cross-national partnerships in African Diaspora educational research. Papers will focus on: the curriculum of the African Diaspora, culturally sustaining professional development for teachers of the African Diaspora, global study and research opportunities for undergraduates across the African Diaspora, retheorizing education leadership from the experiences of African Diaspora leaders, Black Churches and education in the African Diaspora, and understanding the education disinvestment in African Diaspora populations and its social and economic consequences.
