The Effect of Principals' Authentic Leadership on Teachers' Voice Behavior: Examining a Moderated Mediation Model

Abstract

Currently, educational systems invest considerable resources in developing leadership programs and to empower teachers to improve school effectiveness. This study investigated the influences of principals’ authentic leadership on teachers’ voice behavior by examining the mediating role of leader-member exchange and moderating role of procedural justice in a school context. Using quantitative research approach, this study selected 14 elementary and secondary schools in Beijing and Henan Province, among the issued 600 questionnaires, 459 were valid. These findings should encourage principals to promote their authentic leadership, and help teacher express their opinions, to build an authentic and vibrant school.
