Do Proprietary Institutions of Higher Education Generate Savings for States? A National Case Study

Mon, May 1, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: River Level, Room 6B

Abstract

The author presents calculations from academic year 2007-08 through 2011-12 of the financial implications to taxpayer across states nationwide. In this article, he argues that taxpayers would incur much higher costs if students had to enroll in two- and four-year public institutions rather than if they enrolled in proprietary colleges and universities in their state.
