Why We Teach: An Examination of Latino Male Perceptions of Teaching

Abstract

Using Critical Race Theory this paper will explore the philosophies of three Latino teachers regarding successful teaching in hopes of providing a valuable source of knowledge on the effective schooling. Our hope is to glean from the teaching perspectives and experiences narrated by these three exemplary educators more about the task of successfully educating children within a societal context constantly changing yet consistently hostile to all things coded Black and/or Brown.
