Thu, April 27, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 3

Abstract

This study explores the perspectives of American and Arab Khaleeji undergraduate students of the research university model which also characterizes the American university model. Fifteen students from each group—representing a total of 30 participants—were interviewed. Although distinctions between the groups were found, factor analysis indicated that students perceive the model as educationally enlightening. Students also perceive that students from other cultural backgrounds value the model as educationally empowering.
