This study seeks to find an answer to the question of how we can assess situative and interactive on-the-fly teachers’ pedagogical reasoning/competencies in technology integration in the classroom. This study specifically focuses on the affordances of games as an assessment tool to measure such situative cognition and action. This has led to the development and implementation of EXPERTISE, a cooperative board game, as a playful assessment tool. Preliminary qualitative analysis of player audio data suggests that gameplay may serve as a reliable means of pre- and in-service educator evaluation and a measure of teachers’ competency with technology as a whole.
