Generational Perceptions of Shifting Promotion and Tenure Expectations by Faculty in a Striving University

Abstract

Mission drift occurs as institutions pursue prestige, exhibited in changing expectations for promotion and tenure. A generational rift may occur wherein faculty hired before and after the commencement of such changes may come into conflict. The purpose of this study was to examine faculty perceptions of shifting expectations at one university.
