This research project explored the use of an innovative project-based learning approach enabled with a virtual world (PBL-VW) to learn nutrition knowledge. Year 8 students engaged in project-based activities in a virtual world as they worked on complex nutrition problems. Pretest and posttest assessment evaluated students’: (a) declarative nutrition knowledge; (b) ability to apply the nutrition knowledge to solve complex nutrition problems, and (c) learning motivation. The results show that learning through PBL-VW is an effective learning approach in developing students' nutrition knowledge and improving students’ learning motivation.
