Fri, April 28, 8:15 to 9:45am, Grand Hyatt San Antonio, Floor: Fourth Floor, Republic C

Abstract

This study developed an instrument and used it to examine 166 Taiwan college faculty’s readiness for OCW. The exploratory factor analysis supported a 27-item scale comprising four factors: personal characteristics (PC), administrative supports (AS), OCW recognition (OCWR), and competency of digital teaching materials development (CDTMD). The results showed that both OCW- experienced and unexperienced faculty exhibited the greatest weight in the OCWR dimension, followed by AS, PC, and CDTMD. Moreover, male OCW-experienced faculty exhibited statistically significantly greater readiness in OCWR than females, and male OCW-unexperienced faculty exhibited statistically significantly greater readiness in CDTMD than female. Moreover, OCW-unexperienced faculty with different positions assigned different weights to the four dimensions. Suggestions for further research are provided.
