This paper examines the extent to which transnational systems of support influence the educational experience of late entry, transmigrant youth. Utilizing a Chicana Feminist Epistemology (Bernal,1998), and Segura’s (1993) concept of Chicana education, this paper centers the experiences of Salvadoran participants as they reflect on their educational experiences across two different decades – 1970s and 1980s. Findings suggest the same factors - institutional, educational, and familial ¬– significantly influence the educational trajectory of transmigrant youth across each decade.
