We examined the factor structure and internal consistency reliability of the scores from the Brief Resilience Scale (BRS), which was designed to measure resilience as a unidimensional construct. The participants consisted of 925 Korean college students (77% male), and over 60% of the sample were freshmen or sophomores. Exploratory factor analysis suggested a two-factor model (Resilience and Succumbing), which was shown to be a good fit to the data in confirmatory factor analysis, and the number of factors and the factor structure patterns observed were invariant across male and female students. Internal consistency reliability coefficient of the scores from the entire scale was acceptable (α = .75) and the gender difference in resilience was significant, with males scoring higher.
