Many states and school districts use Value-added Models to estimate teacher impacts on student learning growth as a component of teacher evaluation. Prior studies investigated the effect of using different outcome measures of the same content area on VAM point estimates, though less has been provided around the resulting VAM classifications to identify teacher effectiveness. This study provides evidence using data from a large, urban district in Florida to compare such classifications based on national and statewide test outcomes. The preliminary results showed that although VAM scores based on different assessments are only moderately correlated, the resulting VAM classifications are not so different. These results are timely considering recently provided federal assessment flexibility.
