This paper and the ongoing case study it showcases uses a participant-centered approach to extend current thinking on practitioner action research involving preschool children with and without (dis)abilities. The research incorporates Photovoice to invite child participants into research design, strategy, and content. Photovoice is a participatory research process that provides cameras to participants with the intention to document their own voice for the purpose of using the images as a catalyst to create change in their community (Wang & Burris, 1997). This paper will present the results of one child who has an identified (dis)ability and his experience utilizing Photovoice, as well as the implications of teacher researchers using this participant-centered approach.
