Abstract

This paper explores an innovative methodological approach to recover the histories of education, migration and opportunity of communities of Color. Specifically, this paper uniquely situates the educational trajectories of Mexican descent students within the historical racial, social and economic realities of this community of South Central Los Angeles in the first half of the twentieth century. This paper is an effort to understand the context in which schooling occurred for this community, which has largely been under researched.
