The ways in which discipline is differentially and violently applied to multiply-marginalized groups reveal institutional processes of racism and ableism. This paper examines the ways in which youth who navigate surveillance and punishment utilize ingenious forms of resistance and reveals ways in which to disrupt oppressive and violent discipline practices. This paper incorporates qualitative data from two studies conducted with youth that experience violent discipline in two contexts that share similarities but are geographically distinct.
