Tue, April 17, 10:35am to 12:05pm, New York Marriott Marquis, Floor: Fifth Floor, Westside Ballroom Salon 3

Abstract

Ontario Public School Principals have been given the special task of overseeing the well-being component in education for students, staff and the community in recent years. This study examines the role of school principals in public education as they lead, foster and implement a culture of well-being in their schools. Using Holistic Education Philosophy, Global Policies and Documents and school principal interviews we look at the connection between Policy and Practice in the Public Education system of a Southern Ontario Board. This study provides a perspective from public school principals of what they see as their role and illuminates a broader discussion of the connection between Well-Being Policies and how they translate into the school environment.
