The present study examined data from the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) to assess how adults' levels of skill use were related to their skill proficiency, both at the individual level and at the country level. Results showed that information/communication technology (ICT) skill use and numeracy skill use both in the home/community and at work positively predicted individual skill proficiency. At the country level, reading skills in the home/community and at work had limited positive predictive capacity, while ICT skill and numeracy showed some negative predictive capacity.
