Place Matters: Place Consciousness and the Preservice Teacher

Abstract

The relationship between place, self and subjectivity is complex and persistent. Research on place consciousness among PSTs highlights the importance of raising awareness of the role of place in how we make sense of the world and in the experiences required to generate this awareness. In this study I analyze my efforts to develop place-consciousness in PST’s and how this knowledge informed their work as future teachers.
