This study narrates the stories of five first generation Latina millennials as they completed advanced degrees. The goal was to share the participants’ testimonios or narratives “told in the first person by a narrator who is the also the real protagonist or witness to the events she or he recounts” (Beverley, 2005, p. 547) to highlight their lived experiences and their perceptions as to why they succeed. The following themes emerged from an analysis the participants’ testimonies, which were co-constructed by each participant and the researchers: academia, support systems, employment, spirituality and familial support.
