This paper explores the reliability and validity of a Fidelity of Implementation (FOI) observation form developed for a mindfulness-based social and emotional learning program. The study overviews the design, refinement and implementation of the form which was driven by the CORE process. It examines form reliability and validity via data collected by a team of three observers. The form has internal consistency and intra-class correlations indicate inter-rater reliability is strong. The design and review process support conclusions of sound construct validity. This preliminary look at the psychometric characteristics of the form call for a formal validation study confirming scales and offering opportunities for further instrument refinement.
