This study draws on qualitative interviews, archival data and field notes as a means to explore the various perspectives of parents and family members, school leaders and district personnel in a suburban school district forty miles northwest of Philadelphia. The researcher uses a framework for effective family and community connections with a trauma-informed lens in order to better understand the characteristics and actions of the district’s family-school engagement initiatives. Preliminary findings highlight the importance of the school district including and then locating the places of convergence and divergence of varying perspectives as they relate to family-school engagement.
