Abstract

This study investigated emerging social studies teachers’ ontogenetic evolution of their conceptions of democracy over the course of two-semester social studies methods course. The activity of journaling led to the creation of primary contradictions, which led to ontogenetic shifts in emerging teacher’s conceptions of democracy.
