Session Type: Symposium
A significantly overlooked role in the overall well-being of English Learners (ELs) is the relationship between ELs’ socio-emotional needs and academic success. Although academic challenges are very real in the life of ELs, they may be struggling with various forms of stress, including relationships, communication abilities, and attitudes others have toward them, among many others. This symposium, through multiple lenses and modes of inquiry, brings together empirical investigations of research on the stresses ELs face on a daily basis that extend beyond academics and how ELs cope with these stresses.
