The role of the elementary school principal is vital to the success of teachers and children. Their first years on the job can be crucial to the development and direction of their careers. This session presents new research that builds upon the results of over a decade of studies by the International Study of Principal Preparation (ISPP). The project investigated the usefulness of administrator preparation from the perspectives of principals in their first three years in position. This session is a review of the research along with new investigations in of Chile and Kenya. The session also examines the process of developing and maintaining the ISPP international network.
