Session Type: Symposium
This symposium brings together international scholars to consider the affordances and consequences that reading in the digital age has on learning, judgment, and performance. This symposium allows for a comprehensive examination of digital reading, considering not only reading online compared to reading offline, but also innovative methods and techniques used to understand and improve reading and multiple-source use in an online environment. All presenters will examine both the affordances and the consequences of digital reading by considering the complexity of this process for learners of varying ages and backgrounds, who are engaged in the digital reading for a range of texts and tasks. Further, presenters will discuss implications of their inquiries for future research and instructional practice.
