Session Type: Off-Site Visit
This site visit to a public urban high school in New York City will explore how teachers and students are engaged in an equity-minded computer science introductory course, Exploring Computer Science. The panel discussion with authors of Stuck in the Shallow End and CSForAll leaders will provide multiple perspectives on how computer science education has the potential to transform teaching and learning opportunities for low-income students and students of color. The panel presentations will focus on the challenges and opportunities for scaling up CS education ensuring our goal of access, and also inclusion for all learners. This site visit is for AERA participants interested in computer science education who want to observe equitable classroom practices.
