This symposium highlights the work of four research teams working to understand policy and practice dynamics within the rapidly changing landscape of early childhood education in New York City. With findings that have implications for cities and states nationwide seeking to expand Pre-K, the research in this symposium focuses on various aspects of early childhood education in New York City, exploring issues related to classroom practice as well as examination of structures that support the larger system. Additionally, this symposium documents the collaboration of a research network comprised of researchers from both public and private institutions who have worked together with policy makers to gain a deeper understanding of issues related to the field during a period of rapid growth.
