Language and Social Processes SIG Annual Research Mentoring Session

Session Type: Workshop

Abstract

This session is meant to encourage cross-“generational” dialogue within the LSP SIG. The workshop will begin with a 10-minute welcome by the chairs, who will share highlights from the past three years of mentoring sessions. Participants will then be grouped in small groups (6-8) for a 30-minute, loosely-prompted discussion intended to create new connections between members with similar interests. The session will then continue with an 80-minute paired mentoring session in which LSP graduate students or early-career scholars meet and discuss a piece of their work with more senior LSP scholar-mentors with whom they have been matched in advance of the conference.
