Session Type: Roundtable Session
Four public school teachers working at different schools along the K-12 spectrum, but studying within the same master’s degree program, discuss the transformative aspects of teacher research as each addresses a specific challenge surfacing in their educational contexts. Issues of social justice, motivation, professional relationships and pedagogy are highlighted as each teacher discovers how shared reflective research practices contribute to an expanded notion of collaborative education. Each educator explores the intricate details within the teacher-research model, focusing on the opportunities, insights and emergent questions that helped transcend obstructions to students’ achievement. Each draws on multiple data sources to generate knowledge for teaching by exploring differing but related challenges within contemporary public education.
