Session Type: Symposium
Using action research approaches, a team composed of a university instructional design specialist and instructors of tradition on-ground, fully online, and blended courses explore the use of team/group approaches within their classrooms for the purposes of developing critical thinking, the ways in which these strategies were utilized and adapted to specific course learning environments and populations, and the impact of these approaches on student perceptions of team work in higher education. The team’s instructional designer will introduce the project and the design theory forming the project’s foundation. Instructors will then discuss their specific approaches to course development within this aim, compare and contrast these approaches, explore how course format influences student perception, and the overarching lessons for improved practice.
