Tue, April 17, 2:15 to 3:45pm, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Concourse Level, Concourse C Room

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This symposium will explore how policymakers and educators can develop and sustain a diverse, high-quality teaching workforce that positively impacts student learning and experiences. Drawing on papers spanning diverse qualitative and quantitative methodologies, researchers will examine evidence-based policies and innovative practices that help ensure all classrooms are staffed with a responsive, capable, and diverse teaching workforce for the 21st century —from teacher recruitment, to preparation and professional learning. Evidence-based policies and practices at each stage of the continuum will be discussed, including teacher residencies, innovative preparation experiences, and elements of high-quality professional development, to articulate a systems-based approach to teaching and learning that supports the learning of all students.
