Session Type: Structured Poster Session
As making extends beyond informal spaces to schools, libraries, and museums, scholars have advocated for expanded frameworks to better understand the learning that occurs. In this interactive poster session, we present analytical frameworks and lenses that allow deeper examination of maker spaces and the associated practices, mindsets, and learning opportunities that occur within them. These frameworks were derived, implemented or developed to understand making and its relationship to learning, collaboration, equity, and modeling professional practices. We will present research projects that utilize the frameworks to build upon existing perspectives, expectations, and practices used in making. Participants and attendees will collectively and collaboratively discuss the implications of such research for teaching and learning.
