Scientific production and the establishment of research and research networks have been one of the current challenges of contemporary times. In an increasingly globalized context, local contexts imprint their own specificities in dealing with the circulation and production of scientific knowledge, as well as the available cooperation and exchange networks in each region. In this sense, this symposium aims to discuss the tensions, challenges, potentialities, and particularities of three countries of the Americas: Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico, with respect to scientific production in the education field, as well as experiences with research and collaboration networks. From the highlights of each presentation, it aims to contribute to the debate on how a region can face its specific challenges, such as linguistic and cultural diversity, problems arising from funding, and objective conditions for the development of the area of research in education, as well as the evaluation criteria for scientific production itself.
