Don't Mention Justice: A Critical Race Autoethnography

Mon, April 16, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Sheraton New York Times Square, Floor: Second Floor, Metropolitan West Room

Abstract

In this autoethnography, I use a critical race counter-narrative methodology to interrogate my personal experiences with race and racism in teacher education (Trahar, 2009; Yosso, 2006). By reflecting on my experiences as a tenure track faculty in a teacher education program (TEP), I show how racism operates covertly in education. I conceived this qualitative project while teaching multicultural education courses at a regional public university in New England (Kincheloe & Steinberg, 1997).
