Exploring the Background Characteristics and Baccalaureate Origins of Latina/o Doctorate Earners

Abstract

Using national level data, this study aims to explore the background characteristics of Latina/o doctorate earners between 1993 and 2013. The study will also examine the baccalaureate origins of Latina/o doctorate earners over the same time period to determine the extent to which Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) produce these PhD recipients. We aim to uncover possible inequities and highlight areas of strong performance among Latina/o doctorate earners at the student and institutional level.
