On Being Greene: A Documentary on the Thoughts and Musings of Distinguished Scholar Dr. Maxine Greene

Abstract

The beloved Dr. Maxine Greene (1917-2014) has inspired generations of educators, artists and activists across the globe. This performance/ demonstration session will comprise of a screening of the documentary, On Being Maxine Greene. Praxis has been a means through which the creators of this documentary have been able to reflect deeply on the creative process and to mindfully enact the theories and ideas of Maxine Greene into a documentary of which she is the subject. The documentary has been screened with graduate students in education to encourage the use of documentary video as a method to engage both critically and reflectively on the world in which we live and to introduce new generations to the passionate mind of Maxine Greene.
