Despite increasing recognition for the relevance of critical social scholarship focused on collaboration and interdisciplinarity over the past three decades, the educational leadership professoriate largely remains rooted in traditional Western values that prioritize individualism and competition. Consequently, a small number of scholars are publicly recognized and called upon repeatedly as experts, while other equally expert and wise scholars are rendered invisible. We call upon the academy to ask: What mechanisms perpetuate the status quo amidst a sea of critical scholars and what can be done to dismantle and reengineer these mechanisms so that we are truly able to envision and enact the promises and possibilities of a re-imagined educational leadership professoriate, where all voices are encouraged, welcomed, and showcased?
