Session Type: Invited Speaker Session

Abstract

"This session will address the tensions inherent in maintaining a balanced approach between contributing to local learning spaces and navigating the demands of the academy. Speakers will share their experiences reaching beyond the campus confines to learn from and contribute to K-12 and higher education in meaningful and generative ways. Graduate students attending this Fireside Chat will glean strategies for considering the social context of education in their personal and professional development, especially as it pertains to active community engagement. The chat will allow time for the panel of scholars to share their research, answer questions, and participate in a discourse with participants.
