Intermediary Agents and Their Professional Services in Recruiting Nepalese International Students

Mon, April 16, 8:15 to 9:45am, New York Hilton Midtown, Floor: Third Floor, Trianon Ballroom

Abstract

Higher education in the United States has long been attractive to international students. International students, in many countries, look for the assistance of recruiters or educational agents, while seeking college information in preparation for studying abroad. This study examines how educational agents facilitate Nepalese students in their U.S. higher education preparation. Results suggest that Nepalese students used educational agents to assist in finding a college at which to study. The agents were also successful in aiding students in the creating and completing of applications and other required documents such as bank letters, visa, and English test preparations. Students’ experiences in using the agents are comparatively positive and students felt they could trust the educational agents.
