Museums in Practice: Usable Professional Learning Theory in Chinese Museum Education

Abstract

Museum education is a specialized field dedicated to developing and strengthening museums’ role as public institutions. During the past few decades, museum education has become more and more important in most museums in both Western and Chinese countries. To better service the society, museum educators are employing more and more professional learning theories into the institutions, to make museums a better learning environment. This paper reviewed what professional theories are usable in museum education, how they are being used now, and how they can be used in Chinese museums.
