Two studies examined school readiness profiles and how the profiles influenced later achievement growth using a nationally representative sample of US children. In study 1, a six-dimensional construct of school readiness was adopted and the log-linear classification diagnostic model was used to estimate on-track proportions for each subdomain of school readiness and to classify children into school readiness profiles. In study 2, Latent Growth Model was used to analyze academic growth across profiles. Study 1 found most samples appeared in five different school readiness profiles. The socioemotional development was well prepared, but approaches to learning were poorly prepared in average. Results from study 2 showed school readiness profiles could predict later academic growth.
