The purpose of this study is to design and implement a design thinking team project to promote group creativity and to examine the cultivation of group creativity. 16 graduate students participated in the project over Spring 2017. This study conducted an artifact-based interview and analyzed the development of group creativity in the five stages of design thinking: Understanding knowledge, Empathizing, Sharing perspectives, Generating idea and Prototyping. The results showed that analytical thinking was identified the most in the overall project, and the factors of group creativity like learner orientation, interpersonal understanding and flexibility often appeared as the project progressed. Finally, this study proposed the necessity of instructional treatments such as idea checks and training for applicability.
