Infusing STEM Through Agricultural Education: Developing an Agricultural-Based STEM Outreach Program for Monsanto

Abstract

Agricultural Science Education and Science Education are innovative curriculums that motivate and engage students in STEM. The need for scientific and agricultural literacy is increasing and partnerships between industry experts and schools are highly valued. Agricultural companies’ employees are a great resource for schools and communities. This study examined [Company] school based collaborative science outreach program and provided an educational strategy. A mixed-methods research design indicated to increase quality of students reached, company leadership valued improved impact, and STEM must be expanded beyond company headquarters community. Recommendations included restructuring to expand STEM, create professional development for teachers and employees, establish Youth and STEM Advisory Council. Continued evaluation of the STEM Outreach Program and Youth and STEM Advisory Council should occur.
