35.060 - Global Interactions and Reactions: Leveraging Language and Social Process Relationships to Cultivate Collaborative Scholarship and Increase Educational Opportunities

Sat, April 6, 4:10 to 6:10pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 700 Level, Room 705

Session Type: Workshop

Abstract

This session encourages cross-“generational” dialogue within LSP through a 50-minute panel discussion and a 70-minute paired mentoring session. First, four senior LSP scholars engaged in global research will share methods and practices and consider how to, as stated in the call, “work collaboratively across our boundaries.” In turn, panelists will offer insights about how international research collectives can nuance understandings of language and interactions and they will also highlight the affordances of technologies for collaboration. In addition to the panelists, the moderator will synthesize comments and offer tangible ways forward. Following, graduate students and/or early-career LSP scholars will discuss their manuscript with a senior scholar-mentor with whom they have been matched in advance of the conference.
