Fri, April 5, 4:20 to 5:50pm, Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Floor: 200 Level, Room 202C

Session Type: Symposium

This international symposium will present evidence of the critical role of knowledge brokers and boundary spanners in education by examining their diverse roles and functions and the ways in which their work strengthens, and/or could further strengthen, the ties between research and practice communities. This session will explore different aspects of the problem of strengthening research-practice-policy connections and provide a conceptual framework as well as tools, strategies and insights emerging from several international initiatives that will be of interest to educators, researchers and policymakers. Collectively, papers will share diverse approaches to knowledge brokering and research-practice partnerships that focus directly on improving educational practice and co-constructing useful, field-relevant knowledge and introduce a model to assess the impact of brokering efforts.
