Session Type: Symposium
This session includes three papers that examine home-based learning activities during preschool and kindergarten. The studies focus on variability across different SES groups (paper 1), across the transition from preschool to kindergarten (paper 2), and on the home literacy experiences of Spanish-speaking families (paper 3). Specifically, the first paper examines the added value of home learning activities during the preschool years; the second paper considers family involvement during the transition from preschool to kindergarten; and the last paper looks at the home literacy environment of Spanish-speaking Latino families. A discussant will synthesize findings from the papers and time for questions/discussion will be reserved at the end.
