Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
To become scholars whose work significantly impacts educational research and shapes people’s lives takes leadership, community-building, often powered by new technologies. In this fireside chat, we ask an international, interdisciplinary panel of scholars and thought-leaders at various career stages about how they are building a research community around the promise and peril of social media in education, with support from AERA initiatives. The session will showcase the range of scholarly products, events, and social media tools and strategies, these collaborators are using to construct a research community and set directions for a growing sub-field. We hope to foster a rich conversation about how to get support for your research, find collaborators, convene important themed journal issues, workshops and events, and online professional networks in learning and instruction.
